Soren West hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2016. Impressive, but not that unusual...except West did it at age 75.
West first dreamed of hiking the Appalachian Trail when he was a freshman in high school. That dream stayed in the back of his mind for the next 60 years. Finally, his family pushed him to fulfill it. “My youngest son said to me, ‘Dad, you better start the trail pretty soon or you’re gonna be the first guy to do it with a walker.’”
West knew he had the mental toughness to finish, despite physical setbacks along the way. "I said, 'I will amputate before I will not finish this trail.'"
West will speak about the journey and show his photography at The Temporary Thursday evening.
