Commission Revises Mid-Valley Area Community Plan

The Roaring Fork Valley Regional Planning Commission agreed to an updated version of the Mid-Valley Area Community Plan Thursday night. This is the document which guides land-use decisions in the part of Eagle County around Basalt.

For the past six months, the Commission has been meeting with the public to reexamine the plan, to ensure the community is on board with it. This is following several very controversial development approvals.

New changes to the plan are mostly tweaks, said commission member Temple Glassier, like discouraging development outside of already existing “growth hubs,” places like Willits, Basalt and El Jebel.

In the Highway 82 corridor, the commission added a new way to characterize density. Instead of rural and suburban, they opted for low-density to moderate-density.
