The lease for Krabloonik Fine Dining and Dogsledding could be officially confirmed this week. Snowmass Town Council has approved most of the updated lease, but a few more details are being added in.
Clint Kinney is Town Manager for Snowmass Village, and says it has to do with what happens if the business defaults. “What will be added is the language about how a receiver will be determined,” Kinney explains. “The language allows for up to twenty days to work with the current owner, and if that doesn’t happen then the town will ultimately have control over who the receiver would be.”
Officials must sign off on the lease because Krabloonik is on Town of Snowmass property. Receivership has been a bone of contention for the local advocacy group, Voices for the Sled Dogs, with members concerned the business could go back to the former owner, who was sentenced this spring for animal cruelty. New owners are taking steps to significantly improve the sled dog operation, and can’t fully take over without the lease renewed.
