A fire department in the Upper Valley says efforts this weekend to keep people out of high waters was successful.
The Aspen Fire Department was relieved to have only two calls over the weekend about river accidents. One was in Aspen, the other in Basalt, and kayakers involved were able to self rescue. Firefighters also patrolled the popular Devil’s Punchbowl swimming area on the Roaring Fork River. Authorities will continue keeping an eye on rising rivers this week.
