SkiCo extends season at Aspen Highlands

Aspen Skiing Company announced yesterday that Aspen Highlands will remain open two additional weekends beyond the scheduled season. Aspen Public Radio’s Carolyn Sackariason reports.

One hundred percent of the mountain’s terrain will reopen the weekends of April 23-24 and April 31-May 1. After the scheduled season ends on April 10, the bonus weekends bring the total amount of ski days in the 2015/2016 season to 154.

SkiCo cited heavy snowfall in late March as well as this year’s El Nino weather patterns for the extended season. This is the eighth time in the last 10 years that the season has been extended — four times at Aspen Mountain and four times at Aspen Highlands.

This year, in addition to reduced prices on lift tickets, parking is free at the base of the Highlands on the bonus days. Existing season passes will be valid.
