The Carbondale Board of Trustees is scheduled to review a draft Climate Action Plan tomorrow night.
The Town of Carbondale asked two local energy organizations, the Community Office for Resource Efficiency (CORE) and the Clean Energy Economy for the Region (CLEER), to update a 2006 plan. This current version has the lofty goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.
The plan addresses five sectors: buildings, renewable energy supply, transportation, waste and local food. In addressing the town’s carbon footprint, the document says, Carbondale will work toward energy independence and stimulate economic development.
Trustees plan to discuss the draft document Tuesday at a work session that begins at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.
