Kristjen Nielsen Defends Trump Carefully in Aspen

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen spoke Thursday at the Aspen Security Forum.

In an interview with NBC's Peter Alexander, Secretary Nielsen said there’s no doubt the Russians attempted to interfere with the 2016 election. The homeland security chief insisted she’s seen no evidence of targeted Russian interference in the election infrastructure.

She left the door open on the question of whether Russia favored candidate Trump.

Nielsen also told the audience that Immigration and Customs Enforcement has many duties that are overlooked by the agency’s critics, including anti-smuggling, anti-trafficking and rooting out child exploitation.
