Public Comment Ends Thursday For Arbaney Pool Update

Town of Basalt

Basalt officials are looking for public feedback on updates to the Arbaney Pool.  Improvements spread out through four years include improvements to the main pool and creating a robot-shaped children's pool, as well as making the facility eco-friendly.

The first phase, scheduled for this fall after the pool is closed for the season, includes a new water line, renovating the locker rooms and changing rooms, installing solar panels and purchasing a new boiler and mechanical equipment. All of those projects would help decrease the pool's greenhouse gases; the facility currently has the highest carbon footprint of any Town of Basalt building.

The next phase would begin in 2021 and include improving the main pool, adding handicap entrance ramps and creating the robot children's pool. The updates will end with new furniture and roofs in 2023.

The first phase will cost Basalt just over $600,000 in 2020. The other phases are expected to price out under $1 million combined.

An informational video with additional details on the project as well as the survey can be found on Basalt's website.
