Aspen Valley Hospital is switching around how it hires orthopedic surgeons. Three surgeons who have already cared for patients at AVH are now working directly for the hospital, instead of contracting from their private practice.
At least one of the affected physicians has said it’s helpful having the hospital handle billing, scheduling, and other business tasks. A representative of the hospital said Wednesday the goal is to make orthopedic services more available by also hiring more surgeons and dedicating some to emergency care. AVH plans to bring on three new surgeons in the coming months.
