The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority’s fall schedule begins today, Tuesday September 8th.
RFTA typically pulls back service in the fall off-season, but one popular route is getting an encore presentation this year. The Maroon Bells guided bus tour will continue through October 4th. For nearly 40 years the popular scenic route has relied on bus transportation to preserve the fragile ecosystem during peak tourist times. The 2015 Fall schedule includes an extra month of required bus travel to the Bells.
Woody Creek bus service will discontinue until November 25th, as will weekend service of the VelociRFTA Bus Rapid Transit system and the Carbondale circular.
The free City of Aspen shuttles to Hunter Creek and Castle Ridge will depart Ruby Park three times and hour, with reduced frequency on nights and weekends. Trips to Cemetery Lane will be semi-hourly and service to Burlingame will run once an hour. The Crosstown shuttle line is discontinued until winter.
The Ruby Park Remodel Project will continue through the Fall Season with an anticipated completion date around Thanksgiving of this year. At times Buses will relocate around the facility, along Durant Street or in front of Wagner Park. Commuters are advised to arrive early and look at bus head-signs or speak with their driver to ensure they are on the correct bus. The project is a collaboration between the Elected Officials Transportation Committee, City of Aspen, RFTA, CDOT and the Federal Highway Administration.
RFTA’s bi-annual survey is launches in January 2016 and will be seeking rider feedback regarding the off-season schedule reductions.
