The public still has one week to give feedback on an updated access control plan for the Rio Grande Railroad Corridor.
One addition to the plan includes the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority’s philosophy on access to the Rio Grande trail. It states that RFTA will generally approve all public and private access requests as long as they maintain the integrity of the corridor for railway use. Angela Henderson, who is overseeing the update, explains that the two uses are interconnected.
“If you don't protect the railroad corridor itself you put at risk the loss of not only the railroad corridor but also the Rio Grande Trail” said Henderson.
