As part of ongoing efforts to conserve water, the city of Aspen is offering free sprinkler inspections and fixture swaps for homeowners next week.
The city has partnered with a Colorado non-profit called Center for ReSource Conservation. Darren Nowles, who represents the organization, said homeowners can save between 5 and 20 thousand gallons of water per year through the free program.
“We estimate in Colorado that between 50 and 60 percent of our water consumption is actually used outdoors on our landscape, and of all of that water, 50 percent of that is wasted,” Nowles said.
During the week of July 25 through 29, water experts can identify faulty equipment and recommend more efficient watering schedules. There are also indoor inspections available.
