The final two events in the 2016 Hurst Lecture series are Friday and Monday.

Tonight’s talk, titled “Advice to the New Administration: America's Future National Security Challenges” features experts’ advice to whomever the next president will be. Harvard professor of Government and former US Ambassador Nick Burns will moderate the discussion, featuring Former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, Stephen Hadley, national security advisor to President George W. Bush, and David Miliband, president and CEO of the International Rescue Committee. The speakers are all in town as part of the Aspen Institute’s ongoing security policy discussions.

On Monday, the Hurst Lecture series will conclude with a panel examining the future of Journalism. Marty Baron, who led the Boston Globe Spotlight investigative team that exposed the Catholic Priest scandal, will be joined by leaders of new-media standouts VICE, Slate, RYOT and Google News.

Cristal Logan, the director of Aspen community programs for the Institute, says both lectures allow the public access to the scholars who are shaping our future.

“We are looking forward to hearing from these people who may not be household names but they are doing really profound work in the space of delivering news and information in new ways.”
