Governor selects judge for valley and beyond

Governor John Hickenlooper has selected a new judge to serve in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond.

The number two person in the Ninth Judicial District has been tapped to serve as a district court judge. Anne Norrdin, who has been in the DA’s office for more than eight years, will replace judge Daniel Petre, who retired last week. She will be based out of the Garfield County courthouse and will serve that county, as well Pitkin and Rio Blanco counties.

Norrdin has served as the assistant district attorney since February. She beat out two other finalists for the seat: Garfield County attorney Tari Williams, and Scott Turner, deputy attorney general in the criminal justice section of the Colorado Department of Law.

District Attorney Sherry Caloia, who is running for re-election this fall, issued a statement Tuesday that said she will miss Norrdin and her expertise, and that it is quote, “a huge honor for her to be selected and we are very proud of her.”

Norrdin’s appointment is effective immediately.
