Crimes associated with methamphetamine are making headlines in newspapers up and down the valley. But whether that indicates an uptick in crime is unlikely.

A grass fire broke out just east of Glenwood Springs last week and took down one house. Traffic headed west on Highway 82 was jammed up for miles as a result.  

The owners of Hotel Denver bought the Redstone Castle for just over $2 million. They say they are going to keep it open to the public and even let people rent rooms.

And the Forest Service has a plan to control the masses in the high country. It’s the highly anticipated permitting system.

Meanwhile, Snowmass Village is on a trajectory of success with record sales tax revenues and higher than normal real estate sales. Plus, it looks like the sale of Base Village will happen soon.

Finally, the construction boom is having an effect, both positive and negative, on the valley.
