A fire broke out at the Basalt Gun Range on July 3 and has grown to 5263 acres with zero percent containment. Three homes have been lost and nearly 2,000 residents evacuated. High winds greatly expanded the fire on the night of Wednesday, July 4. Type 2 incident responders are now on scene, with up to 400 firefighters expected to be on the scene over the weekend.
