Aspen Will Accept E-Waste This Weekend

It’s illegal to toss anything with a plug in the trash. Electronics like computers, printers and TVs can contain heavy metals that can’t go to a regular landfill.

On Saturday, Aspen is collecting e-waste for safe disposal.

The city is working with Front Range-based Blue Star Recyclers to break down electronics. They’ll separate and recycle the plastic and safely dispose of heavy metals. They’ll even crush hard drives so that the data is unreadable.

Citizens turn in an average of 10,000 pounds of e-waste each year at the event.

E-waste can be dropped at the Marolt Housing Parking Lot Saturday morning. The Pitkin County Landfill also accepts e-waste.
