Lyle Ashton Harris in conversation with Daniel Merritt
Join us for a dialogue with artist Lyle Ashton Harris that examines his photographic and archival practices as a means of establishing a relationship between oneself and the world. For over four decades, Harris has developed an expansive body of work that often feeds back into itself to create new forms. Images of friends, lovers, muses, and influences recur and mingle with objects and ephemera gathered by the artist over time across widespread global locales.
In conversation with Chief Curator Daniel Merritt, Harris will reflect on the foundations of his influential practice and how acts of revisiting the past can open toward more expansive futures.
Harris’s exhibition, Shadow Works, is on view at Aspen’s Baldwin Gallery until February 9th.
This event is free and open to the public; registration is required.
