Registration for Anderson Ranch Arts Center's Summer Series is now open; this week, the Snowmass Village art facility announced its 7-week series of Q-and-A's and conversations, which will be held over Zoom due to COVID-19.

Anderson Ranch's Curator-in-Residence Helen Molesworth said that this year's crop of featured artists highlight a range of unique artistic mediums. Among this year's speakers—abstract painter and sculptor Michael Grotjahn (July 2, 4 p.m.), and Deana Lawson (July 23, 4 p.m.), a photo-based artist whose work has been lauded for its documentary style. Tavares Strachan (August 13, 4 p.m.) is a conceptual multimedia artist who once shipped a block of ice from the North Pole to the Bahamas, where it was displayed in a refrigerated exhibition.

The program’s National Council Summer Event features Michael Shnayerson (July 21, 4 p.m.), a journalist and longtime contributing editor to Vanity Fair magazine.

Despite having to go virtual for public health concerns surrounding COVID-19, Molesworth said the artists have pivoted each event, and were ready to take things online.

"I'm excited about the heterogeneity of the offerings and the liveliness of these conversations," she said. "Some folks are going to bring surprise guests ... they all were interested in how to make lemonade in this situation."
She added that audience members who might've been nervous raising their hands in front of a group now can ask questions online, which she thinks will ultimately add to the discussion. The summer lineup kicks off on July 2, and information about registration can be found on the art organization's website.
