A long time childcare provider in Basalt has received initial approval for expanding into the Red Brick Center. An advisory board and town council have decided The Growing Years School is the best operator for the job.

Growing Years currently runs a program in a modular nearby, and representatives told town council last week that, pending final approval, they’d like to triple their capacity. Currently Growing Years serves 36 families, with most living in Basalt.

The final details still need to be hammered out, and council will consider again for final approval. The goal is to have the new center up and running in August, in time for the next school year. There is a severe need for child care in the Roaring Fork Valley.
