Garfield County again lobbies state for health insurance changes

Elise Thatcher

Garfield County is once again lobbying state leaders to improve health insurance options in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Insurance rates are still higher in this area despite efforts to change that, and the issue has gotten a lot of attention in the Valley. Commission Tom Jankovsky said at a recent meeting that Garfield County is trying to make a difference by partnering with state lawmakers, like Representative Bob Rankin and Representative Millie Hamner. Jankovsky says they ‘are willing to introduce a bill in the state legislature to at least ask for one geographic rating area in Colorado.”

Garfield County was instrumental in changing health insurance rating areas a few years ago.
