Gender Gap Opens Among Hispanics Who Could Be Key In 2020

Hispanic voters are heavily Democratic but Hispanic men are more likely to vote Republican than Hispanic women. This gender gap is roughly the same size as the one among white voters.

Its emergence may have consequences for the reelection campaign of President Donald Trump. Trump is hoping to rally conservative Hispanics to his side in must-win Florida and other southwestern swing states.

The gender divide occurs as the country's Hispanic population is diversifying and partisan alignment has become more a question of identity.
