Aspen Public Radio's Local Newscast is a way for residents and visitors to have access to an up to 15-minute compilation of local news, outside of standard drive times.

Aspen Public Radio listeners can now subscribe to our Local Newscast wherever you get your podcasts, meaning individuals can take the day’s news and information with them on-the-go — while camping, walking the dog, or hiking up Smuggler.

The Local Newscast launched today by the Aspen Public Radio news team as a way for residents and visitors to have access to an up to 15-minute compilation of local news, outside of standard drive times. Already available for on-demand listening on the station’s website at aspenpublicradio.org, this compilation of the morning’s newscasts is typically posted by 10 a.m. each weekday.

This new digital strategy for the Local Newscast allows listeners to subscribe to “Aspen Public Radio Newscast,” and hear Aspen Public Radio’s award-winning local journalism and community-focused reporting through distribution on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Stitcher.

“This is yet another way we can meet our listeners where they are,” says executive director Breeze Richardson. “We know that life in the valley is busy, and we understand that you’re not always listening in your car or while you’re at your desk. Our news team really wanted to give listeners the opportunity to subscribe to our Local Newscast as a podcast, which means you’ll have even more flexibility when catching up on the news of the day, from wherever you are in the world. Moving this digital initiative forward was a big priority for us as we aim to connect with all generations of public radio listeners. I’m really proud of our news team for making it happen.”

Listeners can hear all the day’s news live each morning on 91.5FM or 88.9FM, between 7-9 a.m. with Morning Edition anchor, Eleanor Bennett, all throughout the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys. “And as always, we encourage feedback,” adds Richardson. “So if you have any questions or ideas for how we can better fit local news into your schedule, please let us know by giving us a call at 970.920.9000. We hope you’ll subscribe and share, because it’s our loyal listeners who play such a critical role in connecting new listeners to our timely, relevant service, rooted in our community.”
