Artist Ricky Armendariz speaks at Anderson Ranch

Anderson Ranch

Painter and printmaker Ricky Armendariz speaks Tuesday evening in Snowmass Village.

Armendariz is the visiting artist at Anderson Ranch this month.

He grew up on the U.S.-Mexico border and is known for carving huge, woodblock prints that combine the history and mythology of the two countries.

During his residency, Armendariz said he’ll work on a carving inspired by the Roaring Fork Valley.  "It might have to do with some kind of folklore or myth that relates either directly or indirectly to this area, but I try to find parallels or connections with things that are familiar to me.”

On Tuesday, he’ll speak about his career and how his art has been influenced by his Mexican heritage.
