“Expect a baby boom”

The data from a Kids First survey regarding early childcare options was presented to the Aspen City Council last night. Shirley Ritter, the executive director of the city-run program, says most of the infant and toddler childcare facilities in the county are at capacity, and, according to survey results, there may be a 60 percent increase in need over the next five years.

Ritter speaks with Aspen Public Radio’s Alycin Bektesh about the current state of childcare options in the Roaring Fork Valley and what would be needed in the future to alleviate the overcrowding problem.
