Power plant memo details rent requests

Details are emerging about lease negotiations between the city of Aspen and the group that is planning to take over the old art museum along the banks of the Roaring Fork River.

In a letter sent to city officials Monday, Chris Bryan, the attorney representing operators of the nonprofit group, Aspen Power Plant, detailed two dozen specific points of public outreach conducted over the last year. The outreach is an attempt to appease outspoken opponents.

The letter also includes specific rent figures and a re-branded food and beverage component.

The 24 contacts include times operators of the Aspen Power Plant reached out or responded through email, in-person meetings, or community gatherings with residential neighbors, as well as city staff and neighboring Theatre Aspen.
