Snowmass Town Council will review the final draft of a recreation and open space plan today.
After months of surveys and community outreach, staff will present Snowmass Village’s first-ever plan for management of the town’s 1400 acres of open space and 30 trails.
The Parks, Open Space, Trails and Recreation Plan identifies key elements and objectives for the 10-year-old department. Director Andy Warline said there is a need for better management of user conflicts on the trail system as the numbers of hikers, bikers and equestrians increase. Many of these trails pass through sensitive wildlife habitat and are closed seasonally.
