Aspen's bike racks to be removed for winter

Bike owners, beware. The Parks Department is removing bike racks in downtown Aspen starting Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Bikes parked in Aspen’s racks will get a notice on Oct. 31. Owners then have two days to remove them. By Wednesday, those that remain will be handed over to the police. Getting them back, however, doesn’t cost anything. Go to the police station in the basement of the courthouse. If you have a picture of your bike, or a receipt, great. If you don’t, at least be able to describe it in detail.

“We need to get the bike racks cleaned up and get ready to start removing snow,” said Matt Kuhn, the Parks Operations Manager for the City of Aspen.
