When an 8-year-old died at Hanging Lake last week, after reportedly slipping and hitting his head, our sympathies immediately went out to his parents. That day was probably the worst of their lives, but it was a scarring day for others, too.

Think of the first responders, who arrived at the scene and tried to resuscitate the boy. Aspen Public Radio’s Wyatt Orme spoke with Garfield County Sheriff, Lou Vallario, about the trauma debrief his department provided in the wake of the little boy’s death.
