Today’s event was the Skiathlon with high hopes for Jessie Diggins to potentially medal. We had a few adventures trying to figure out the bus system and getting between venues.
So proud of Jessie in an historic finish for a 5th place. Sophie Caldwell was 6th in Sochi after a broken pole so this tops the charts as the highest finish for an American.
The larger nations have a “hospitality house" that represents their country. In addition, the United States has a “P&G House." Procter and Gamble very generously sets up a center for the parents of all disciplines. There is also a USA house, which we will receive a one-time pass to go visit as parents of athletes.
A season alpine pass costs $136 and the lights are on and open to skiing until midnight every night.
We met Sim and Sophie in the stadium after the races. The races start at 4 pm, so they train late in the afternoon to get their bodies accustomed to racing at that time of day.
