One Quarter Of Valley Beds Are Rent-By-Owner
For more than a decade, data has been collected for a "Transient Occupancy Study" in Aspen and Snowmass: A count of how many available beds are on the market for visitors.
This year's data show a 33 percent increase in the number of beds that are now available directly from the owner, on sites like Airbnb and Home Away. One quarter of the valley's inventory is now rent-by-owner properties. Alycin Bektesh spoke with Bill Tomcich, who has overseen the study for the last 12 years, about the shift in what beds are available, and from whom.
