Gail Schwartz Joins Water Conservation Board

Gail Schwartz

Governor Jared Polis has appointed Basalt resident and former state senator Gail Schwartz to the state’s Water Conservation Board.

The board’s main job is to make sure Colorado’s water is being used wisely.

The state's population could double by the middle of the century, but it will have to contend with less water than we have currently. Schwartz says she’d like to see farmers and neighborhoods both use water more efficiently.

"How do we get even stronger conservation measures in place, throughout the state, in all communities?" she said.

Schwartz will serve on the board for three years.
