Castle Creek Bridge Construction Delayed By Weather

City of Aspen

A forecast of winter weather is changing the work schedule on the Castle Creek bridge in Aspen.

Work that was to be finished Friday will now be delayed until next week.

Tuesday crews finished up putting new asphalt across the bridge. But instead of continuing with concrete and bridge joint repair Wednesday and Thursday, that work will now be delayed until Monday Oct. 14 and Tuesday Oct 15.

Traffic patterns will resume as normal the rest of this week, which includes a weather forecast of showers Wednesday night, snow showers Thursday and a low of 12 degrees on Thursday night.

Next Monday and Tuesday when work resumes, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, westbound (down valley) traffic on the Castle Creek bridge will again be detoured via Sixth Street to Power Plant Road. Eastbound (up valley) traffic will continue to use Castle Creek bridge with intermittent delays for outbound buses.
