Local artists featured in World Cup

The World Cup racers hit the slopes on Friday, but there’s more to the event than just skiing.

Seven years ago, the World Cup organizers reached out to the community for help in supporting the event. A year after that, they tapped into the schools and their art programs, having students make art to display during the event.

Now a few years later, the professional art community in the Roaring Fork Valley is a part of the festivities.

Angie Callen, executive director of the Red Brick Center for the Arts, was the linchpin of the whole thing.

“We’ve got some really, great high-quality artists. Long-time local, well-known artists who got really excited about this.”

Artists like Molly Morton and Sue Sue Tatem. Their work, along with some from local students, will be displayed in businesses around town
