Artists who want to learn the skill of constructive art critique can hone their abilities at the first “crit session” held tonight at the Aspen Art Museum. The program began out of a desire to get community artists more involved in art critique and criticism.
Museum curator Courtenay Finn will lead the first session which will guide local artists through a discussion of the works, while explaining the differences between criticism and critique.
The program includes local artists who bring one piece of their work to each session. Pieces will be discussed for thirty minutes before the artist can explain the work a bit more.
The second crit session is in mid-May. More sessions might be added if interest is there. Outside artists will be leading later events.
