On Wednesday, the Carbondale Chamber’s Annual Business Conference brought roughly 60 locals together to discuss issues facing the region’s workforce.

Udeshi Hargett was the keynote speaker. She started her business as a professional wedding violinist in 2012. Now, one of the top professionals in her industry, she shared her tips with local business owners.

“If you love what you do, if you have a passion for what you do, you can get through the hard humps,” said Hargett.

A panel of recreationalists and creatives shared insights into the challenges local businesses face in the rural parts of the state. Affordable live and work spaces, as well as transportation costs, were at the forefront of the discussion.

Companies and organizations represented included Carbondale Creative District, Colorado Creative Industries, Backbone Media, Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry and Department of Local Affairs.
