City staff is requesting several decisions from Aspen City Council in regards to the Red Brick Center for the Arts. The proposals will be discussed in a work session tonight.
The City’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Red Brick’s interim executive director are requesting the arts center’s mission be upheld. City staff are also asking for control over the facility’s management.
The staff is requesting an additional $50,000 to maintain arts programming for the calendar year and to work with the Wheeler Opera House’s staff to research a potential Cultural Arts Commission under the direction of Aspen’s City Government.
