The Carbondale Public Arts Commission is seeking fifteen new outdoor street sculptures for the annual “Art Around Town” program.

Their mission is to promote the work of local artists, acquire works that are suitable for public display and work with the community to promote art awareness.

This next wave of sculptures would replace installations like "Humpty Dumpty," which a group of locals is still trying to purchase.

The sculptures will be located in spots throughout the downtown area. Main Street, the library and along the Rio Grande Trail are all popular places for art.

Sculptures must be safe for pedestrians, of appropriate scale for street display and able to withstand high winds and substantial temperature changes.

Interested artists are also being asked to include 3 additional images from their body of work.

The deadline for entries is this Sunday. Selections will be made by March 6.

Chosen sculptures will be unveiled May 31, with an artists’ reception to follow. The artist must be able to install their sculpture on this day, or have someone install on their behalf.
