Week in the Arts: February 12, 2018



Monday and Tuesday the Take Ten Festival from Theater Masters continues its run at the Aspen Black Box Theatre. Those shows start at 7:30 p.m.



Snowmass Village is celebrating Mardi Gras beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.


On Tuesday in Aspen, there will be a Slam Poetry Performance with the poets teaching in Roaring Fork Valley Schools this month. The slam is at Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar and starts at 5 p.m.


On Wednesday at the Pitkin County Library, there will be an early-evening Valentine’s Day concert by local singers and songwriters Jan Garrett and JD Martin at 6 p.m.


Also Wednesday, Carbondale Clay Center is hosting a Couples' Night that starts at 6 p.m.


Then Wednesday night at The Temporary, comedian couple Erin Dewey Lennox and Billy Wayne Davis will bring on the laughs. That show begins at 8 p.m. in Basalt.


On Thursday there will be an art opening called “The Past Is Yet To Come” by Shelly Marolt at the Aspen Jewish Community Center starting at 5 p.m.


Friday night at The Third Street Center in Carbondale, the 5th annual Aspen Words Youth Poetry Slam is happening at 6:30 p.m.


Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Glenwood, Sopris Theatre Company’s production of the play “Red” at Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley starts at 7 p.m.


On Saturday night at The Temporary in Basalt, there will be a production of “Multitudes: An Evening with Walt Whitman” at 8 p.m.


Indie-rock band Cold War Kids will perform Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Aspen Mountain Gondola Plaza and Sunday at Belly Up Aspen.
