Red Brick's New Show Offers Viewers An Education On Artistic Process

To help stop the spread of coronavirus, the City of Aspen has closed the Red Brick Center for the Arts through the end of the March.

A new exhibit at the Red Brick Center for the Arts in Aspen gives insight into a question artists get asked a lot... “How did you do that?” The show “Art at the Intersection of Technology and Tradition”features works by four local artists, Teresa Booth Brown, K Rhynus Cesark, Andrew Roberts-Gray and Trace Nichols, who curated the show.

Nichols said the exhibit gives insight into artistic methods and materials.

"Some of us have created process sections where we actually show the tools," she said. "Some of us are using a more deconstructed method where they actually show slices of how it is that they produced the work."

There are also videos and extensive statements from the artists that offer insight into how their work was created.

The Red Brick cancelled the show’s opening on Thursday due to concerns about COVID-19; the exhibit is scheduled to run through mid-April.
