With COVID-19 cancelling in-person classes and exhibits, Basalt’s Art Base is finding ways to bring people into its gallery virtually, and get art out into the community.
The art center's first virtual exhibition is open for viewing. The Claudette Carter ARTmentors Program features the work of Roaring Fork Valley students who have been mentored by local artists. Virtual artist talks and a moderated art walk are part of the exhibit’s online viewing.
The Art Base’s executive director Skye Skinner says the Basalt facility has also been distributing art kits to the community.
"We've capped 600 that have been put out into the community, and that's been a really well received initiative," she said.
Arts kits are available at the downtown Basalt facility. The virtual exhibit and to-go art kits coincide with the Art Base's spring fundraising drive, which runs for 6 weeks. More information about online classes and exhibits can be found at The Art Base’s website.
