A helicopter crash around 7 a.m. Saturday morning near Rifle injured the two occupants on-board. The crash caused a wildfire, but Colorado River Fire Rescue was able to contain it.

In a press release, Garfield County officials said Colorado River Fire Rescue responded with a Brush Fire gang and were able to contain the resulting fire following the crash.

The reason for the flight is unknown at this time. Garfield County officials previously reported the helicopter was performing "aerial inspections of power lines" for Xcel Energy, but corrected themselves in a later press release saying the reason for the flight is unknown.

The National Traffic Safety Board is conducting an on-going investigation.
