Basalt Town Councilman Offers Help To Prospective Candidates

Elise Thatcher

Starting Tuesday, Basalt residents who want to run for one of the three open Basalt Town Council seats or for mayor can pick up their paperwork and start gathering signatures.

Basalt Town Councilman Bill Infante will hold an event that morning at Starbucks in Willits from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to answer questions from potential candidates.

“How do you campaign? What do you need to do to campaign? How much time does it take? How much does it cost? And then if elected, what should you expect as a council member serving on Basalt Town Council?” he said.

Infante says he wants candidates who will help make the board more diverse in age, race and gender and who will continue to implement the town’s strategic plans.

Infante, who retains his seat until 2022, will host another information session Tuesday, Jan. 14 at CC’s Cafe.

Prospective candidates must turn in all paperwork by Jan. 27 in order to run.
