William Dolan

Board of Directors

A native Minnesotan, Will received his BA in English Literature from St. Olaf College and his MSc in Geography (Water Science, Policy and Management) from the University of Oxford. Prior to moving to Aspen, Will interned for a US Senator, worked as a ski instructor in Jackson, WY, and then as a policy aide to the Governor of Minnesota. His passion for nature and wild places led him to the Roaring For Valley in 2010, where he worked as the Renewable Energy Manager for the City of Aspen until 2015. During his time with the City, Will was responsible for overseeing the transformation of its electric utility to 100% renewable resources, a milestone which made Aspen one of the nation's leading municipalities with respect to forward-thinking climate change mitigation action.

In 2016, Will’s wife’s medical training and career brought them to NYC and later Vermont. During this time, Will co-founded an insurance company with backing from Lloyd’s of London, which specialized in more accurately assessing and underwriting wildfire risks in California. His company was partially acquired by a business unit of Willis Towers Watson, a multinational risk management, insurance brokerage and advisory company in 2018, and ultimately fully acquired in November of 2020. Will and his wife, Nathalia, purchased a home in East Aspen in 2020 and look forward to returning as full-time residents in the coming years.
