Dance Of The Sugar Plum Stormtroopers: Symphony In The Valley's 'The Nutcracker Strikes Back'

Symphony in the Valley

Storm troopers meet sugar plum fairies this weekend for Symphony in the Valley’s concert “The Nutcracker Strikes Back.” The orchestra is made up of volunteer local musicians from Aspen to New Castle.

Orchestra manager Amanda Watkins says, with a new Star Wars movie, "The Rise of Skywalker," coming out Dec. 20, it seemed like a good time to put a new twist on the holiday staple “The Nutcracker.”

The orchestra will team up with dancers from Glenwood Springs High School and Rifle’s ArtillumA Dance Company for a Friday night performance in New Castle, and at the Ute Theatre in Rifle on Sunday.

Symphony in the Valley will perform a light saber-free version of "The Nutcracker" on Saturday evening.
