A solar panel installation in Cattle Creek? $75,000. A new mobile vacuum for the landfill to pick up wind-blown trash? $150,000.
On Tuesday, the Garfield County Commissioners examined the county’s five-year capital improvement plan.
The plan is a road map of expenses the county expects to have in the coming years.
For example, it wants a composter at the fairgrounds in Rifle for manure and wood shavings. It also wants to replace the bathrooms there.
At the Tuesday meeting, the county manager predicted savings on broadband infrastructure.
The private sector, as well as cities and towns, he said, have taken the initiative by installing necessary infrastructure.
The plan will inform the 2020 budget, which the commissioners will revisit this summer.
