The Show Must Go On(line) for Thunder River Theatre Company

Carbondale’s Thunder River Theatre Company is streaming Thurday's annual ExtravaGala! online due to COVID-19. Stand-up comedy, dance numbers and a call-in from Broadway star Beth Malone are all on the playbill. The event's organizers say that despite some of the challenges of bringing the annual variety show to life online, theatre in any form is important right now.

"The arts really reflect our experience as human beings," said Thunder River's Executive Artistic Director Corey Simpson. "I think more than ever right now, it's important for us to reflect on the times that we're in and also sometimes be transported away from that."

Virtual theatre-goers are encouraged to order takeout from their favorite local restaurants—a listing of which can be found on TRTC's website.

Thurday's ExtravaGala! will start at 7 p.m., and can be viewed on TRTC's ThunderStream on Youtube.
