The Granite Lake Fire is burning in a remote area of the White River National Forest in the Frying Pan Valley.
The U.S. Forest Service says the fire is burning in remote wilderness and is not threatening any structures or infrastructure.
The fire was ignited by a lightning strike and is being actively monitored by Grand Junction Interagency Fire.
Saturday night, fire managers will use aircraft to monitor the fire.
Smoke may be visible from Aspen and Basalt.
