Week in the Arts: April 16, 2018

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

 

 

On Tuesday, Anderson Ranch visiting artist Richard Armendariz gives a public talk about his current projects. The presentation is in the Schermer Meeting Hall starting at 5:30 p.m.  

Wednesday, the Basalt Library will screen the film "Elephant."  It’s a part of the Movies that Matter series at the library. The film begins at 5 p.m.

 

On Thursday, the Basalt Library hosts a Teen Workshop. Kids in grades 5 and up can learn to make eco-friendly products that they can take home, including soap.  The workshop starts at 4 p.m.

Thursday through Saturday, Theatre Aspen School’s production of "Starmites" will be onstage at the Wheeler Opera House.  The musical starts at 6:30 p.m. all three evenings, with an additional matinee performance at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Thursday through Sunday, the 5Point Adventure Film Festival comes to Carbondale for the 11th year. More than 50 films will be screened throughout the weekend, with additional community events all four days.  

On Friday, Dead Floyd takes the stage at the Belly Up for an all-ages show.  The cover band performs mashups of songs by the Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd.  Doors open at 9 p.m.

 

Saturday, there’s an open house at the Glenwood Community Gardens.  All are welcome to stop by and learn about gardening, as well as what plots are available this season.   

Saturday evening, indie folk-pop band Shook Twins and Americana group Dustbowl Revival play a show at the Temporary.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
