Week In The Arts: April 30 - May 6, 2018

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

 

 On Monday, "Oklahoma!" starts its three-day run at the Riviera Supper Club in Glenwood Springs. Attendees can watch the musical while enjoying a seven-course dinner. Shows start at 7 p.m. each evening.

The Aspen Art Museum holds the first class in their short course "Who Does Art Belong To?" on Wednesday. This workshop will explore "Authorship"; it starts at 5:30 p.m.

Also Wednesday, 10 participating artists will discuss their work in the current Aspen Chapel Gallery show, "Unbridled: Contemporary Works in Clay." The artists’ talk starts at 5:30 p.m.

Thursday is the opening for the ArtStart Art Show at the Red Brick. The exhibit features artwork by Aspen School District students.  The Red Brick’s current resident artists will also hold open studios at that time. The opening starts at 5 p.m.

The opening reception for "Art For Change" and "Narrative Threads" is on Friday. "Art For Change" is a group exhibition about social, political and personal change. "Narrative Threads" showcases 26 books created from textiles by contemporary artists. The opening is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the R2 Gallery.

On Saturday, the 5Point Film Fest Encore will be screened at the Wheeler Opera House. The festival-winners will be shown, as well as other highlights from 5Point. The films begin at 7 p.m.
